Q:“How do you imagine the University of the future?” A:“It should be accessible. And understand our needs and our problems”   The speech of the President of the Student Council Emma Ruzzon at the opening ceremony of the academic year in Padua is an SOS sent to all the subjects gravitating around universities in Italy. Excessive competition, psychological fragility, huge financial efforts and the difficult access to proper houses are mentioned as hurdles on the path of the students leading the Italian system to a sad 29% of enrolled students able to graduate, that is one of the lowest figure across the advanced countries: an enormous waste of energies and resources that Italy cannot afford anymore. Just 20% of the people between 25 and 64 years are graduated, against a European average of 33%. The main takeaway for the PBSA sector is to focus first on the personal wealth of the students, their real needs and deep aspirations, to create the right environment where everybody will find its place on the journey towards the graduation and adult life. #future #university #universities #pbsa #realestate #universitystudents #graduation #students

Montrealers need to mobilize and to fight this. Montreal would not be Montreal without its rich French-Canadian traditions and culture but it would also not be Montreal without the contributions of English speakers who were either born here or decided to make their lives here. And by the way : they can function in French and they embrace it. These days , there are examples all over the world of disingenuous , populist and divisive politicians who do not care if they ruin the communities they supposedly serve: just so long as they get elected or re-elected. We don’t even have to name them. Let’s not let this government do this to us HERE. Quebec is healthier and more vibrant when people - including English-speakers decide of their own free will - to come here and make it home. H. Deep Saini an excellent example of this. When they do that - Quebec is showing the world its culture and that it is something to be proud of. Quebec should no longer feel insecure and should not retract from the world. Bill 101 guarantees everyone who comes here will grow up in the French school system. Why be afraid? Why not welcome more and more people to our Province. They know they are coming to a francophone environment. Why not be happy that we are producing more French speakers? We should be using the carrot and not the stick. This is sad.
